The Demo that wasn't or was it?

First my apologies ladies for not making it to our get together today. I'm sure you were all real disappointed I didn't make it. Or maybe you didn't even know I wasn't there. No I'm going to believe you missed me. Even Gerri missed me I'm sure. I think something or someone was telling me to stay home today. First I had a bad night. Woke up with blood squirting out of a hole on my rear end. I was rubbing my hip which is sore and felt this hard thing and flicked it off. Next thing I knew blood was squirting everywhere. I mean everywhere. Have no clue what it was. We couldn't find anything. My husband got the bleeding to stop and stuck a bandaid on it. It's not sore so who knows. So that was our night. Robin had to be up a 7 this morning. I got up, woke her up and laid back down with the dog. Was still awake when she left at 7:30. The next thing I know it's 9:10. Now I have to leave at 9:30 to get there so got up and dressed. Everything was already packed and I was on my way. Got to the road and the tire went flat. Backed up real slow to get back in the drive and then I gathered up all my stuff and walked home. Next thing I know there is a Sherrif helicopter circling the area where my car is. I'm guessing they think someone is hunting or something because there is a car on State land. Go to get on the tractor to drive up to the car and the dang thing wouldn't get out of park. So I walked back up there. Called the Sherrif's office. Told the dispatcher to tell them it was my car and it had a flat tire. She said to me no one had called in about a car with a flat. I said Maam they are in a helicopter. My car is on the ground. I don't think they can see if I have a flat. She says, guess not well OK. That was the end of the conversation. He left, I walked back home and 15 minutes later he came back. I walked back to the car and sat there waiving at him and then started walking home. He left. Has not come back and I pray when I go and get the mail that my car is still there and hasn't been towed. So that has been my day. I did get my laundry done but didn't want to disappoint all of you so I decided to do a online demo for you. I know it won't be the same. But I will know that you are picking on me and whining as you do the technique at home. So here is the project. The technique is called Bleached Polished Stone.

This is what you need. A bottle of alcohol if using a cotton ball or a spray bottle with alcohol if you have one of the Ranger distress tools and a piece of glossy card stock.


You will also need 2 Dye ink reinkers and a metallic reinker. Now if you use one of the Ranger metallic mixatives you will not need to seal the project when your done. If you use a pigment reinker or gold leaf pen you will need to seal it so it does not rub off. I use Krylon Fixatif Spray when I seal things.

Wet your cotton ball or felt piece with the alcohol. Then add a few drops of the lighter color.

Stomp it pounce it ,or whatever you want to call it, around until you have real good coverage.

Now add a few drops of the next color and do the same thing.

if you feel it is getting dry and the inks are not moving add a little more alcohol.


Now add a few drops of the metallic and a little alcohol and pounce that around till you are happy with the results. .



Let it dry about 5 minutes. Now take your embossing buddy and wipe it across your polished stoned card stock. Ink your stamp with Versa mark and stamp it.



Put black embossing powder on it and then heat emboss.


Next comes the fun part if you haven't already been having fun. You are going to need a small paint brush and some bleach.

Now paint with the bleach between your lines. Let dry a few seconds and add a second coat of bleach. In about 10 minutes this will be your results.

What you have left is the white of the glossy card stock and the metallic reinker. It has a real nice shine to it. I hope you all enjoyed your lunch. I bought Chinese take out after work last night so finished that off. I missed our time today. Looking forward to next month. Give this a try. It's a fun technique and will be the theme for our monthly swap. .

MOJO 101

Monday came and went and I didn't get to my sketch so this morning I sat down and hurried to get something done before I had to leave for work. These Halloween stamps were on my desk so I decided to break them in. I just bought them at Micheals last week. They were in the $1 bin. So cute. Had to have them. Nothing special done here. Just embossed with black and followed the sketch. A little chalking and layered in Halloween colors.

Vintage Shoes

This is probably my last card for the week. Another one from I Brake for Stamps. I stamped some flourishes with Versa Mark on the black card stock and embossed with black EP. Then I decided to Emboss the shoe image also. I'm not sure how I feel about it. Not sure if the card is finished or if I'll take it apart and start again. Or maybe I'll just leave this one go and make another one without all the embossing. That is probably the better idea because I have agonized over this one way to long. LOL. The flowers and leaves were colored in with glitter markers and I also chalked a little here and there around the background.
Well we've had a pretty emotional couple of weeks here. The husband has been on an animal selling spree. You don't realize how attached you become to a cow or a goat until you have to say goodbye. We need to toughen up. So last week Moorice, Moorie and Cowsandra moved to another farm. Molly and Cowleen will become our new cow mommies in another year. Last night our goat buddies of 6 years went to live with a family with kids who wanted to raise goats. They have plans of having babies. They even bought a husband for our Girlie. Hope she likes him. These people also bought 3 of the chickens last week. So sad we were last night. You'd thought somebody died the way we were blubbering. But todays a new day. We have a Steer coming in a couple of weeks. His name is Porterhouse. A couple pigs and a dozen chickens are on order and there is a new rule not to get to know anybody. These are not pets. RIGHT!!!!!! My husband is like a little kid and has to play with all of them. I keep telling him not to play with the food but he's not listening. We'll see what happens when Charlie pork chop takes his little trip in September I like calling going to Summer camp where he will be changed and come home looking like a new person ur pig. After all the idea to start this farm life was to raise some food. We had visions of steak and bacon in the freezer but that darn freezer just stays empty.

More prize pictures

Todays work schedule is one I'm not crazy about but then I'm lucky enough to have a job so I deal with it. Last night I colored some of the images. This morning I gathered all my papers and planned out a few cards and this evening I put 2 together. I'm enjoying my new IBFS stamps. Check this one out. It's called Baby Collage. The background is chalked and then distressed on the edges with Vintage photo ink. Used my Copics to color it in. Added Liquid Pearl dots which don't glow so much in real life but I'm not sure I would use it again on this one. A distressed piece of white card stock punched with a Martha Stewart border punch along with a real piece of lace and a crocheted flower finish it off. I also sponged the background paper with the Vintage Photo ink. Now I just need someone having a baby to mail it to.



This next one uses a background technique I will be teaching on Sept. 15th at the Stamping Studio. I used an I Brake for Stamp feather stamp that I have had for some time. The new stamp I believe is called bird on Foxglove.



So now I'm off to bed. Tomorrow brings better work hours. I have another card almost done and hopefully I can finish it tomorrow afternoon.

A little bit of play time

Taught a Stampscapes class today. Then it was off to Micheals for my monthly fix and then to Baskin n Robbins. Robin and I were just discussing the fact that there are no ice cream places around here and we were both wanting ice cream. So I made sure before I left Spring Hill for the trip home to get me an ice cream cone. Back in Ohio we walked many times a week to the corner of our street for ice cream. Yum yum. Well as promised here are the first cards made with my IBFS prize.
This is one of a set of 3 called Butterfly Collage. Each one has a different flower.

The background is Polished stone. Flowers are colored with my Prisma pencils and the butterflies with Copics.



This is a white pigment ink resist technique. Flowers and butterflies done the same way but I decided to pop up the top butterfly. Now I'm off to try out another one of my new stamps. Check back tomorrow to see what I make.

Wonderful webbing

Well I know you guys are thinking I have really been busy with all these tutorials I've loaded today. I was asked to do online technique lessons for a group I belonged to. So I started a blog and these lessons have just been sitting there being ignored and the group has disappeared so I decided to move them over here and close the other blog. So here is the last one.

Webbing!!

This is one of my favorite things to use. It comes in white, black, silver and gold. Black is my favorite. It makes the color pop. Most of the time I spray with the gold first and then one of the other colors. But as you will see they are great used alone. There is no need for a special technique. Webbing changes the look of things you may already have or on something that can be made in a few minutes. Here are the before and after samples.

Change the look of designer paper.



Jazz up plain card stock.




This is a piece of card stock that I just swiped an ink pad across a few times.





This is a piece that was sprayed with several Glimmer Mists. Use Color Washes or make your own spray with dye ink, water and Perfect Pearls.





Try sponging with dye inks and metallics.



Change the look of a technique. This is a piece using the shaving cream technique.




This is Polished Stone.



Give it a try with something you have. Remember to keep your arm moving. Spraying straight on will cause blobs of webbing. Give yourself some room. I like spraying in the yard but you can use a box. Just practice spraying scraps before you spray your projects to make sure you have the feel for the way it comes out. Have fun.

A Pigment ink technique

You will need several Pigment ink pads, heat gun, spray bottle with water, a piece of waxed paper all scrunched up and of course card stock.



First thing we are going to do is take the lighter color and push the pad into the card stock. Smoosh it all over filling the card stock.





Now use your heat gun to set the color. This is drying your ink because pigment ink does not dry fast.

Take the second ink pad and do the same thing. Cover it all over.





Spray with the bottle filled with water. You just want to mist it. You can go back and add water later if you need to.
Take that scrunched up piece of waxed paper and pounce all over your piece. Wipe off the waxed paper as it is filled with ink. This is where you can add more water if you feel your ink is not moving enough.






And here's your background.

Random Shadow stamping

This technique makes a fun background for using a solid type stamp as your image. You start out with a shadow stamp, your card stock and 4 light colored ink pads. I used Adirondack lights. Optonal is a metallic ink pad.





Don't have a Shadow stamp. No worries. Most of mine are made out of fun foam. Cut out your squares or really any shape and mount them on EZ Mount. For this project I used a 1 1/4" square.



Take your lightest color and stamp in a checkerboard pattern all over the card stock.







Take your next color and stamp 3 times forming a triangle shape.






Repeat this with your next color. Remember to stamp 3 times and in a triagle shape.


Now you will start to run out of empty spaces so stamp on top of some of your squares and fill in empty also using your last color.





Now this is the optional part. I repeated the steps first with pink Brilliance and then gold. Gives it a little sparkle.



Now you are ready to stamp your image using black.




Your background is now ready to be made into a card.

Sticker fun

Look at this cool idea. I am not a sticker person but someone sent me a stack of these stickers. They just sit here and I ignore them. Just can't get into stickers.



Take a piece of patterned paper and spread stickers all over it. I used pumpkins and acorns.




Now punch and cut out the elements for your card. The stickers add just a little pizazz.
