2 more snowman cards

Well I've played some more with this cute little guy and came up with a day scene card and a night scene card using him.

A few more Christmas cards added to my stash.  Stamp is from Snow Gifts, MFPaHC.

Another CHNC card

This week we are to include a building. This is a stamp I just received this week and was busy inking it up. Building it is not but Mr Snow is holding a bird house. That's a building :O) so it worked out. A good thing because this snowman is all I have any interest in working with this week. Isn't he cute. I got it free from Speedy TV for partcipating in their swap. You should check them out. There is always a free set given to you for participating. Easy way to get stamps.

Last Day of Sneak Peaks

This is a cute set called Oh Crab. I've had fun with it this week. I've got 2 different cards to show you using the set. The first card I masked off the center and sponge first over a shell stencil with a dark color. Removed the stencil and sponged with the lighter color.  I used my cloud template upside down to form waves. Added real sea shells for my embellishments I picked up on the beach last week.

This card I did the same thing with the cloud template to form waves but masked off the bottom and sponged with brown for sand. Then used a texture tool on my sand.

Paper - MFP a HC - Snow Storm Smooth and Speedy the Cat Black
Inks - Distressed Antique Linen, Frayed Burlap, Vintage Photo, Salty Ocean and Stormy Sky

SSSD Aug. Different Kind of Card/Dahlia Fold

This month I'm going to show you how to do the Dahlia Fold and I'm going to show you what I did with it. You do not need to do the same thing. Make whatever you want with your folded pieces.  You will need double sided designer paper or you can use a thin card stock and a circle punch. I used a 1 3/8" SU punch.

I made a flower with my folds so I needed nine punched circles and green ones for leaves. .

For the base of the flower I took one of the circles and folded it in half.

Then folded it in hlaf again. Open it up and set aside.

Now for the Dahlia fold. Take one of your circles and fold it in half but only crease the bottom half.  The top half is the top of the flower petal.

                                                                Fold it in half again

Open it up and fold the rounded part of the bottom half on both sides in a small amount between the crease marks.

Turn it over so folds are on the bottom. Fold the sides in one at a time matching the center crease. This one shows only one side folded in.

Here is a finished one.

To make the flower arrange 2 petals in each quarter section of your base you made first.

                                                             Here is a finished flower.

The green circles are punched with a 1" punch. Fold the same as you did with the petals.

You can make a flower bud with just one petal and one green circle.

You can make a double bud with 2 petals.

Here is my finished card. I added a button to the center of my flower and waxed thread for my stems.
Can't wait to see what you make.

SSSD-August Technique-Faux Layers

For this technique you will need 3 pieces of acetate and repositional tape. The pieces should be #1- 4 x 2 3/4. #2- 5 1/2 x 4 1/4 with a center cut out of 2 3/4 x 1 1/2. #3- 2 1/2x 1 1/4. Take a 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 white card stock base and score at 4 1/4 and fold. Take #1 and using the positional tape adhere it to the front of the card.

Start sponging your colors starting with the lightest color. Fill in with the other colors and then go back over all of it with the lightest color to blend.

Leave #1 in place and stamp a design all around the sponged area.

Remove the acetate and this is what you will have.

Now using the repositional tape place #2 over the top of your card. Add #3 to the center of the opening and sponge with the colors used earlier between your 2 pieces.

Remove both #2 and #3 and stamp your sentiment in the opening. You have now made a Clean & Simple card with no layers that looks like it has several.
