Hurry Santa

A friend of mine, Danielle, is a Design Team member for a blog called Stamping Vacation. They have a different challenge every day. I decided to join in on one called Build a Sketch. There is a list of pieces that you are to cut out and number them. Each time they do this challenge you use just the numbered pieces they list. You are to play with them forming your own sketch. Did that make sense to you. I finished my card and have my eye on a few more of their challenges to work on.

A recipe card

Here's the recipe: Make a card featuring a tree or Ornament.
Use a die cut
Handmade embellishment
a touch of Bling
Ribbon
This is the challenge at The Paper Craft Star and I worked a long time trying to get this just right. Here is my card.
My die cut is an ornament from Spellbinders and my homemade embellishment is the little poinsettia I made from 2 flower punches.

Here are the details:
  • Stamp - Sparkle n Sprinkle
  • Ink - Archival Black, Adirondack Red Pepper, Meadow, Butterscotch and Brilliance Gold
  • Paper - Brushed Gold, Glorious Green, Real Red & White. Patterned paper from My Minds Eye
  • Accessories - Ornament die from Spellbinders, small 5 petal flower punch

Back to my Christmas cards

This card has no layers at all. I cut my card stock 4 1/4 x 11 for a bottom opening card. I used my Snowflake Cuddlebug folder to emboss the top and bottom of my card. For those asking how is that possible if this card has no layers, the snowflake design is also on the back of the card.  I then used my Scor-Pal to score a line where the design ends.  Stamped my image from CTMH in the blank space. I colored with dye ink right from the pad. That used to be the only way I ever colored. I haven't done it in so long. I need to get back to using this method. It is so easy and looks great. Then I hit the snowflakes with my Essential glue Pad and sprinkled glitter all over. The whole thing is covered with glitter. I used Stickles for my image. This card I am entering into the Scrappy Frog **Christmas Card** Challenge.

Here are the details:
  • Stamps - CTMH
  • Ink - Archival Blacck and various Adirondack dye ink pads
  • Paper - white card stock
  • Accessories - Essential Glue Pad, Sparkle n Sprinkle Sparkling Snow glitter, Cuddle bug Snowflake embossing folder, Frosted Lace Stickles

A break from Christmas

The challenge at The Play Date Cafe was to use these great colors. Isn't that the coolest looking building. I needed a Birthday card. So to the person receiving this card this is how I came up with color scheme. :O)  This is another one of my new stamps and also one of my favorite flowers. The flowers are colored with pencils. The background is chalked with pink and red and sealed.
Here are the details:
  • Stamps- I Brake For Stamps & CTMH
  • Paper- White, Pink Pirouette & Bravo Burgundy
  • Ink- Memento Black
  • Accessories - Gamsol, Prisma pencil, chalks, Cuddlebug folder and Krylon Fixatif.

40 days till Christmas.

Are your cards finished. I haven't even counted mine but the stack is growing. Luckily a few of this weeks challenges have cooperated. Speedy the Cats friends challenge today is to make a card with snowflakes. Piece of cake! And I Brake for Stamps challenge over at the Brakefast Club was to use sparkly bling. This card should qualify for both. I sponged the background with blue and used the same blue to stamp my snowflakes. I then cut out my largest oval. Sponged it with the same blue while still in the die. Then removed it from the die and sponged with a darker blue. Put it in my Cuddlebug snowy village folder. Added a saying which actually says Autumn Season on it. I just didn't ink up the word autumn and it worked just fine for this card and about a dozen more I have on my desk to finish up this evening. I need to get myself some sayings for Christmas cards. Lots of Stickles for the added Bling.

Here are the details
  • Stamps - I Brake for Stamps & Marks Finest papers
  • Paper - White & Brilliant Blue
  • Ink - Archival Jet Black -Memento Summer Sky & Danube Blue
  • Accessories - Stardust Stickles, Nestabilities, SU Ticket Punch, Fiskars Snowflake Punch, Cuddlebug Snowy Village folder

I say was because when I went to upload it after hours of trying to figure out the layers the challenge had closed. I guess there is only a 2 or 3 day time limit. I will have to watch this the next time but I wanted to show you the card anyways. We were given the dimensions for the card and layers. Then you were to add a punch, buttons and ribbon.
