Salt Dough Ornaments

Marks Finest Papers Speedy Fox and Friends Blog has been having a 12 Days of Christmas project blog hop. I'm day 10 so if you haven't seen it go on over and take a look at all the tutorials and projects you may have missed. I stamped on Salt Dough Ornaments.

Here's the tutorial:

Stamping on Salt Dough Ornaments

Supplies needed:
1c. flour
1/2c salt
1/2c warm water
stamps
ink

Mix your 3 ingredients together. You can use a mixer or work by hand. I mixed mine with the mixer and then finished with my hands. You want the dough to be smooth. Roll it out.

Stamp your images with the black ink. I used Versafine.
No need to push down into the dough. Just lightly stamp.

Now cut out. You can use cookie cutters or as I used a glass.  I used a straw to cut my holes for hanging. These 2 I am going to bake in the oven at 200 degrees. It will take from 45 minutes to 2 hours depending on the thickness of your dough. When they are hard they are done.  They will puff up a little.  Cool and color if you like. I used Tombow markers and sponged the edges with ink. Then I sealed them with a Krylon Spray Sealer

This one I’m going to air dry and
takes a few days. I wanted to see the difference. It remained flat.

Are you like me?

You have all these rubber stamp supplies but they are put away in boxes or drawers and you can't see what you have. I was searching for something a few weeks ago and found dies I didn't remember buying. So I have changed that. I found this set of 4 cork tiles at Walmart for $5.99. I put the first 4 up and started organizing my Spellbinders Dies. Love it!!

But I had other dies so I went and bough another package of cork tiles and now I can see what I have. I have to admit they are getting used and I made room for some other supplies that did not have a place.

Tutorial Time on Speedy TV 72

This was a fun project and I did not stop at one. I have a stack of backgrounds no, all colors. I bet you will too if you give it a try. Go on over to Speedy TV and click on Challenges and then on Tutorial Time to learn how to stamp with fruit. I used a lime. I also used a color I very rarely use...purple. I think it looks great. Hope you try it and add a card to the challenge Printing with Fruit.

Tutorial Time on Speedy TV 71

This week on Speedy TV we learned an interesting technique. I had never worked with clay before so I didn't have any. Living a distance from most stores I remembered a product a friend of mine used years ago with her kids. Picked that up at Walmart and it worked just fine. It's called Model Magic and it work wonderfully.

Stamps - MFP a HC - HolidayTags, Joyous Season, Winter Scenes

I colored the gingerbread man with Markers and sprayed it with a clear sealer.  Give the technique a try. It was fun. Click on Challenges and then on Tutorial Time. Add a card for a chance to win a great stamp set.

Faux Cloisonne'

As soon as I saw this tutorial I knew exactly what stamp I was going to use. So I got it out, stamped & embossed it and then colored it with H2Os. I wish the rest was as easy. I tried background after background and nothing made me happy. Different layouts. I worked on it for several hours before giving up and setting it aside.  Last night in the middle of the night I woke up and went to my desk and had my aa-haaa moment. In less than 5 minutes my card was finished.

It's Apple time

My favorite time when I lived in Ohio was picking apples, drinking Apple Cider and going on hay rides. This set is perfect for those Fall times.

Stamps- MFP a HC - Fall Apples

The background was made for one of my Basic Background Columns. The leaves are a die cut and were sponged with Distressed Inks. Remember to check out the Blog Hop next week to see the stamps in this set.

V-Fold Card

I have wanted to try this fold for a very long time. The directions I had made it a little harder than I think It had to be. I would look at them and then decide I'd try another day. So after figuring out the basic layout it was sooooooo easy.  Here goes SSSD ladies. Hope you understand my directions.

You are going to start with a pice of cardstock 6 x 8 1/2. Score it in half at 4 1/4". This will make a card 6 x 4 1/4.  See the line on my scoring board.. You will need to do this to yours. Just trace down one of the tracks with afine point  marker.

Fold the card in half. On the flap this to be the front put a small pencil mark at 3" and then at 1/4" & 1/2" from the center mark. Repeat on the other side.

You sre now going to put a small pencil mark 1/4" from the fold on each side. At the bottom you are going to put a small pencil mark 2" up from the bottom on both sides and then 1/4" from that mark on both sides.  Here is a diagram excuse the my unruly lines. I have labeled the marks at the bottom  DCBAEFG. On the left I have lables these marks HIJ and on the right they are labeled KLM. Line up H & D on the line you drew on your scoring board. Score. Next do the same thing I & C. Score. Then J&B and then the fold & A. Now repeat this on the other side -- K & G , L & F, M & E and the Fold and A. The drawn lines represent  your scoring.

Now fold all your score lines in the same direction. You're going to make mountain and valley folds now. The top score line of each set of 2 is a Mountain Fold. The bottom score line of each set of 2 is a Valley Fold. This is what you should end up with.

Now you need a piece of cardstock 6 x 4 1/4.

On the back side of your folds add double sided adhesive.  Attach the card stock.

Decorate.

Have fun making your Swap cards.
