Rain rain go away

With all this rain and 3 days off from school thanks to Tropical Storm Fay I have had some extra stamping time. I had these stamps I bought awhile ago and hadn't used ( Imagine that ) so this was their time. These are from Firecracker Designs by Pamela. This little Turkey is so cute. He has several sayings you can put in his banner. I layered him on Choc. Chip and speckled his background with my texture brush using Butterscotch and Rust ink. That wasn't the plan but I had a finger smudge however that happened so I tried to cover it up. Love the speckles so glad it happened. Layered that on a piece of Pumpkin Pie I put through Cuttlebug using the new Fall Pumpkins folder. I added a little rust ink to the edges and a couple of the pumpkins. Decided to get out the brads. Stamped out his Happy Thanksgiving and I have my Holiday cards ready for this years Thanksgiving. The next card uses 2 sets Bridge of thoughts and Flower Silhouettes. I liked the bridge stamp as soon as I saw it. Brought back memories of my Girl Scout leader years. We did a lot of looking over bridges. After it got here though I just kind of looked at it for awhile because it was solid. So I have been thinking and thinking on this one until today. Enough with the thinking. Just get it out and do something!! Made the clouds with a scalloped circle as my guide. Tried to brayer some water. Have not conquered the brayer yet but I don't think it looks too bad. I have been reading this blog http://zindorf.blogs.splitcoaststampers.com. This woman is amazing!! I am determined to get something to come out looking like hers. The words in the bottom corner are hard to see but it says Make a Wish. I think this would make a nice Birthday card for someone. Well Fay is gone and school is back on so my stamping time will be cut way back until the week end. I did get a lot done this week. All my swaps are done for Sept. All my class samples through Nov. are ready. Thanksgiving cards are finished and halloween cards are ready to put together so I made good use of my time. Looking forward to the weekend. My stamp group here in Florida gets together for a fun afternoon once a month. Always a good time.

Look Daisy I've been bleaching

Last Friday I took a class on bleaching. Not a technique I have ever had any luck with. And I was having some difficulty with it at the class but all is well. It could have been my paper I have tried to use in the past. The brand I had does not bleach. SU however works and I have been collecting all the colors so I may be trying this a lot more. I hope someone shows Daisy these pictures so she knows I'm not a lost cause. I'm not a very good student. I'm a read the directions and try it and play with it type of person. They are both on Chocolate Chip and embossed with gold. With the tulips (Holly Berry) I tried out one of my new cuttlebug edge folders. The pumpkin ( Northwoods ) I teamed up with my favorite technique. I just love webbing. I will be teaching 3 different techniques using the Webbing at Stamping Studio in Nov. for any locals interested. Both cards are colored in with markers I water colored with.

I also took the pumpkin and tried another technique being talked about around here that uses mica paint. I took my PearlX and Gum Arabic and made my own paint. First time I've used the Gum Arabic which I bought over a year ago. I think it was about time I used it. Another good look. I will have to try this on some different mages.

Can I borrow a Coffee filter??

I told Dawn D last night to watch for my Blog today if I figured out what to do with these things. Well it's taken me all day but I have 2 cards to share with you this evening. The background paper is a Coffee Filter. Here is what you do. Take one of your dinner plates and drop some reinker on them. About 4-5 drops of 3 different colors. Spray with some water and lay the filter on top and soak it all up. Wear plastic gloves. Trust me wear gloves. I have blue hands. I used Distressed inks on mine thinking they would be softer colored but instead they are bright and vivid. I love them. Dry with your heat gun and go to creating. On the red one I stamped leaves. Now I experimented with this. I tried embossing with black and hated it. I cut them out and hated that so I made a background paper by just stamping the leaf with black ink. The filters are a little hard to cut with your paper cutter so I ended up attaching it to my card and then cutting around the card with my scissors. The 4 little leaves at the bottom were stamped on white, water colored and cut out. They were a little dull against the background so I took my Atyou Spica orange glitter pen and colored over them. Brightened those leaves right up. The red leaf at the bottom is one of the charms from Custers' last Stamp that I did their enameling technique on. Finished it off with my falling leaves verse. The blue and green card I did a little different. I wondered if I could do a Batik technique on it. So I stamped the butterfly all over with Versa Mark and embossed with white EP. Took a piece of newsprint and ironed the embossing powder off the butterflies. Then I over stamped the Batik butterflies with black inked butterflies. Again laid it on the card and then cut around. I stamped a few words in black and added a double butterfly I had colored with markers and then embossed with clear EP. The filters make a nice background paper for your projects. It has a nice feel and a nice look. Give it a try and let me know how you like it.

Vellum adhesive UPDATE

You know I have been looking for an adhesive to use with vellum that you can't see. Well I FOUND one. I found this at Create for Less. The recommendations for it were great so ordered some. Look at this. You can't see it. The vellum is laying flat. Very Cool!!!!

I first saw it at Joann.com. Did a search on it and found a few more places that sell it. I guess I should tell you what it's called. Well I will but in a minute. There's my little sea horse from Custers Last Stamp again and another charm doing their technique. Again he was gold. Now he's green. You should see the leaves I'm doing. Wish I had bought more than one pack. I bet they mail order. hmmmm. I'm going to go and check. Oh yeah the name of the vellum adhesive. Ok enough already. You guys need some too. It's called V2 Vellum Adhesive. You spray it on. Dawn T. I sprayed it right here at my table. Absolutely no smell to bother you. After you spray it on you let it sit for 5 minutes. It gets real sticky. Turns clear and then sticks to your card stock. Works with Acetate too only you spray where you are going to stick the acetate. This is a very COOL finding. Very COOL indeed.

Time for creating

Well today has been one of those days where I take everything I have been working on and finally put them together. My basket runneth over big time. Since we visited Custers Last Stamp this week I got motivated to try out her charm technique. I really like it. See that sea shell it was gold. The stamp is hers also as is the background behind the stamp. I've been looking for a cute sea horse. Think I found him. Everything is done with PearlX and EP. Very quick and easy and looks good too. The stamps in second picture are from a stamp co. I just started dealing with called Firecracker Designs by Pamela. I embossed the flowers in gold and then just used sponge daubers to add color. Another quick and easy background.

Now this rose image I never get tired of. I really like this stamp. It is from Penny Black. I got it at a used stamp sale. What a find!! There's that Faux Marbeling Technique I absolutely love doing or maybe I just like to spray webbing. Whatever it is I like the way it looks and it really adds something to a card. The sentiment is from PaperTrey ink. The last card also uses a sentiment from PaperTrey ink and a new stamp I just bought from Fancy pants designs. A little sponging, a little marker and some glitter finishes it off. I love this set of markers I bought called Atyou spica glitter pens. Comes in 12 colors and goes on marvelously. You can outline with it or color in the images on dark card stock is awesome. It doesn't stick up like Stickles. There's just a hint of glitter right where you want it.

Now I'm off to continue my card making marathon.. Hope you're all having a great day.

New Cuttlebug folder

I'm getting ready to take a short trip with my husband and daughter. Actually it is going to be a series of day trips because of the animals. We plan to have some family fun. Tomorrow we are off to the Everglades. My husband has always wanted to check that out. Hope we see some cool animals to make him happy. The next day we are headed for the Verizon store in the Villages first thing to do something about the daughter always going over her texting amount. I'm going to check out the status of the A C Moore store and if it is ever going to open. Then we'll be off again. Heading north this time. Lunch will probably be at Boston Market in Ocala. We miss Boston Market so much. Thursday then my hubby is taking my car to get new tires. Can you believe I haven't even owned that car 2 years and I need tires. Anyways he's heading there. Robin has to go to school and sign up for a parking place since she will not be needing the service of the school bus driver. Is she ever happy about that one. And I have to to go to school to work a few hours getting the kitchen ready. We plan to all meet back home by 11:30 and then we are off to Tampa and the zoo. Robin requested that trip. It should be very enjoyable. I'll let you know if we see anything really cool and if my husband got to pick it up. He's a wild and crazy man you know !!
I'm starting to play around with my first shipment of the embossing folders. This one makes the card all by itself. I colored it with chalk and added a few paper flowers and some bling. I think I'll add a sentiment on the bottom yet.

These next 2 cards is a technique I have been seeing everywhere the last 2 weeks. You stamp with white pigment ink and then color with pencils. Some are using Metallic pencils and some are using Prisma pencils. I tried both. The first one is a Halloween card. The little bag faces on the card are colored with metallic pencils. Found them at Michaels by Rose Art for $2.49. Really could have used a few more colors. There was no red or orange family colors. The little bag faces in the corner were colored with the Prisma pencils. A lot brighter. On the tulip card the flower is colored with the Prisma and the one in the corner is the metallic. I think I like the brighter colors. But I will give the metallic pencils a try again. Maybe I just need a different image to color.

See you when I get back
