Finished for now.

Its been work but finally I have finished all my challenges for this week. Pals Paper Arts had a sketch which gave me fits. I debated doing it but I wasn't going to let it beat me. That top scalloped piece just wasn't working for me.

Over at Speedy the Cats Friends the challenge was to make a Christmas card. Works for me. One more down. It also helps that I don't like whats on TV on Sunday evenings. So while hubby is busy watching what he likes I have time to play at my desk.

Here are the details:
  • Stamps - High Hopes
  • Paper - white card stock- designer paper, My Minds Eye
  • Ink - Memento Black,Sky Blue,Banana - Copics E00, E11, E33, W3, W5, B60, BV00,G21, YG41, B00, B02, Y02, Y06
  • Accessories - SU scalloped edge punch, Bling, Nestabilities.

Pastel colors of fall

This is the picture for this weeks challenge at Paper Craft Star. Such pretty pastel fall colors.
I took Banana, celery and chocolate colored card stock for my card. The tree is embossed with white and the color was then sponged around the tree. The leaves were punched out of card stock I sprayed with Color Wash.

On one of my Yahoo groups we are having a sketch challenge swap. This is the card I made for it. The image from I Brake for Stamps was stamped with Versa Mark and then embossed with black. I sponged the sky with distressed inks and then cut the piece up into 1 3/4" squares and put it back together on a background of black card stock.

Kids Play

Here is another image from that Flourishes set of stamps I had started to preview a few days ago. Isn't this cute! I needed a Clean and Simple card with Bling for Pals Paper Arts and a Pink & Orange card for The Play Date Cafe so I combined the 2 challenges.

I stamped a Flourish from Hero Arts with pink on the white card stock and orange on the orange card stock. The orange isn't showing up very well. Stamped the image and the sentiment "Don't worry be Happy" with pink. Added pink and orange bling along with a clear flourish bling.

Another Speedy the Cat challenge

This week we were to use a punch or die cut. I knew exactly what to make and had just received my first stamps from Marks Finest Papers aka Markies Mom. She has her own line of stamps and papers if you haven't heard. The stamps are really cute and Speedy the Cat is on every sheet. Check out the blog to see what else was made for this challenge. The leaf is an outline stamp and there are several sentiments that will fit inside and the cutest little squirrel in the set I bought. Can't wait to create something with that little guy. All the punches are from Martha Stewart. I added 2 little button brads for a little color.

This weeks Mojo sketch

I went through my work box looking for something I could use for this weeks Mojo Monday sketch and found all these trim pieces and the sunflowers. I made these long ago using a water color Batik technique. They cried out to be chosen. Found a background in my stash that worked well and this is the result.

See the racoon

I have a bad habit of copying things I see and putting them in a binder and then putting that binder in the cupboard never to be seen again. Do you do this? Well the other day I got one of them out and started sorting things I've tried, things I'll never try and things I want to do. The to do was put on my desk and I am slowly working my way through them. This was a Zindorf tutorial. She used a wolf but when I saw the design I thought of a racoon I had that I bought at I Brake for Stamps.

Working the closing shift again. Last time before my training starts. I should be all done end of Nov. It's a lot of responsibility and a little scary but it will work out I'm sure. All I know is I will be getting a paid vacation and that sounds pretty darn good.

Paper Craft Star challenge

This one had lots of requirements. But at Paper Craft Star they have the challenges listed way in advance of their starting giving me extra time to play. I've had this one done for a week.  You were to make a Thank you card with dry embossing, die cuts and metal. My background is made with metallic Encaustic wax. The picture really doesn't do the shine of the wax justice. It sparkles. The embossing part is a Spellbinder die that embosses and cuts out at the same time. Most of it is covered up so you can't see it but I will tell you this is a must have. It is very pretty. I used 2 metal ribbon slides I have had in my stash for like forever and have never used.

Some new stamps

One of my favorite blogs to read is Crafting the Web. I just love what she creates and she gives easy directions. I bought a palm
tree stamp ( All Night Media ) some time ago to try out one of her tutorials. The first one which I can't show you right now as it is a DT project turned out the best. I tried it 4 times after that and threw them all away but this one. I know what the problem is now, the water is too high up from the original
one. But this one looks pretty good. Wished I had figured that out yesterday.

This next stamp is from Flourishes and I have been looking at the set for months. Finally decided I needed it last week. Ordered it and it arrived this week end.

They are all silhouettes of children and have some great sayings to go along with them. Working on some more cards to show you using the stamps from this set. And my DT project will be uploaded next week.

Fall Inspiration

At Pals Paper Arts and the Stampin Bs the theme this week is Fall. Pals Paper Arts uses this picture as their inspiration.

I had been playing with this weeks technique at Stamp TV and decided it would be perfect for these challenges. The leaf is cut with a Spellbinder die out of a background in my stash. The tree is SU.

I survived the closing shift.

It was a long night but I made it through. Learned a lot of what has to be done to close a restaurant. Made it home by 2 AM, had to unwind and was asleep a little after 3. Luckily I have today off and have been busy working on some great challenges. The first one is from The Play Date Cafe. It's a color challenge.

I went through my stash and found this piece of Faux Barn siding I had made a few weeks ago. I decided on this old truck from SU. Colored it with pencil and Gamsol. Layered the light green and light blue card stocks. Used the same colors on my truck. This is a great image to color. I have another truck and was never happy with it but this one looks good every time.

A while back I did a red, black & white challenge. This was one of the card bases I had made but just couldn't make it work. I found it today and these scalloped shapes I had also cut out for that challenge and couldn't make them work either. Today they all went together in no time. I had colored this Poinsettia last week and to me it was perfect. One more Christmas card finished.

This is the absolutely last Halloween card I will make this year!

I think I'm ready to stop coloring pumpkins and move on to the next holiday. I'm working the closing shift today so I have had all day to work on cards before I have to leave for work. I was able to use this card for 3 challenges and I am quite happy with it. First off the Halloween part comes from Challenge #17 from Paper Craft Star. They are using this Martha Stewart picture as the inspiration. Very festive looking with those Halloween colors. I used the Mojo Monday sketch to help me along and I had seen a tutorial somewhere last week on making stripes which I wanted to try. That's where the Speedy the Cat Challenge fits in.
They wanted you to use stripes. So I got out my distress inks. Used the 3 orangey colored ones Marmalade, Marigold, Rust Hinge and Black to make my stripes. The pumpkin is from SU. Colored with Copics. The Happy Halloween stamp is one of those dollar stamps at Micheals. I added some black glitter pen to the web and the little bat is a Cuttlebug die.

                                       And now for my card.

Lets Ink It Up Challenge # 4

It's time for another challenge at Lets Ink It Up. This one is to make a card using Halloween colors BUT the card does not have to have a Halloween theme. There is a great prize this month.

It's a Goodie Package valued at $15.00 (Will be made up to suit winners taste)

Bec says, Bizzy Becs sells a wide variety of products that suit all cardmakers. Gorgeous rubber stamps, including Bizzy Becs Stamps, Magnolia, Bildmalarna, Whiff of Joy to name but a few, Copics, Spellbinders, Cuttlebug and lots of embellishments and other yummy goodies………

This is my card. The stamps are from Inkadinkado. I masked the moon on an oval Nestabilities and sponged the sky using distressed inks. The background is a cool piece of designer paper that I sponged black distressed ink on the edges. So be sure to get your card made and enter it at Lets Ink It Up. Be sure to also check out what the rest of the Design Team created while you're there.

Fall is in the air

Even here in Florida. The air is cooler in the mornings now and the grass has stopped growing so fast. That leaves me with more time to stamp. These stamps are from Eureka stamps. I bought them 4 years ago and this week they came to mind for a swap due later this month. They are all colored with Copics. The ground and sky were made with a torn piece of paper as my guide and brushing ink over the edge. This also qualifies for the Stampin Bs challenge make a fall card.

Mojo Monday sketch

I'm getting a better start on this weeks Mojo Monday sketch than I did last week.  The little scarecrow is from SU and is colored with Copic markers. The leaves are punched out of background I had made and found in my stash.

This one may be too late

But I'm going to enter it anyways. The Monday Mojo sketch has been sitting on my desk all week and I really liked it so I was determined to get it done. I combined it with the color challenge at The Play Date Cafe. I actually found a piece of Polished Stone in my stash that had all the colors. They don't show well in the picture. The lily was filled in with copic markers and then shaded with gamsol and markers  .

Buttons, Bows and a sketch

This is a brand new stamp to me from Su and my first time using it. I colored it with copics and shaded with gamsol and pencils. I am using it for 3 challenges and have myself one more Christmas card for this season. First the sketch is from a new challenge site. I had a post on my blog this morning inviting me so I checked it out. This sketch is for a challenge starting on Wednesday the 6th at Paper Craft Star.

I'm using it for The Speedy the Cat Challenge-use buttons and bows at Marks Finest Papers. The challenge at Pals Paper Arts is to use buttons so it works for this one also.
