Hi ladies of the SSSD. Here is the Feb. technique for your swap. I hope you have fun with it. I did.
First you take a background stamp ** if you don't have one no worries I will be showing an example at the end using a smaller stamp**. If you love background stamps this one is from Impression Obsession and is called Cover a Card. Lots to choose from. They are awesome!! The stamps are 6x6 square and unmounted. What I do is ink up the stamp and lay the card stock on top, then press and smooth out with my fingers really good. OK now back to the technique.
Ink up your background stamp with Versa Mark. Stamp it on your WATER COLOR PAPER.
Cover with Gold Embossing Powder and shake off the excess. Heat it.
Let cool a minute and then spray real good with water. Choose your 4 colors of reinkers. I am using Adirondack Butterscotch, Ginger, Raisin and Eggplant.
Put a little of your first color on your work surface. These craft mats are great for this. Spray it with water and then start painting your your water color paper always starting from the bottom until the whole thing is covered. You want the bottom darker than the top.
Reapeat with the second color but stopping 3/4 of the way from the top. Blend the line between the 2 colors by having less ink on your brush when you reach that point.
Repeat with the next color stopping at the half way mark.
Take the last color which should be the darkest color and paint just the bottom 4th. Now comes the hard part....waiting for it to dry.
Here I am using a square script stamp but you could use leaves, flowers or anything that you have that is mostly outlined. Ink it up with Versa Mark. Fill in your whole piece of water color paper.
Here I turned it so this piece will be wider than the other. Sprinkled with Gold Embossing Powder and embossed just as before.
I used Cloudy Blue, Ocean Aqua, Stonewashed and Denim repeating the above directions.
Here is my card.
