Mojo Sketch

This should have been done on Monday. I was off work at 1:00 but I came home and sat down for just 2 minutes and off to sleep I went. I never nap but I have been so tired. So this morning before I left to make the burgers I worked on this one until it was finished. My sunflower die came the other day and I knew that was what I was going to use for the circle. Both pieces of background I found in my stash and were made with Glimmer mists and webbing.

This weeks Mojo

I was determined to get this done today. I missed last weeks due to my schedule. But today I had off. Taught a class and enjoyed some restful play. This card has 2 techniques. The crow is stamped in black on a Saran wrap technique. He's from I Brake for Stamps. The piece behind him is just sponged with Stonewashed Blue from Adirondack. It's actually a rejected sky for an upcoming Stampscapes class. The main background is sprayed with Glimmer Mists and then with Webbing. It was fun to get some play time today.

Mojo 92

I'm a little late this week. Going back to work full time really kicked my butt. Hadn't realized how out of shape I've become. Spent most of last week in a coma after I got home. Take out food was on the menu every night but this week is much easier. Just have to get used to working all different kinds of hours. Some mornings, some afternoons and some nights. Will have to reschedule my time for when I do things. Today is one of my nights so I'm doing laundry, cleaning the house and taking some time to stamp before I'm off to work. Looking forward to Saturday. I have the day off and once I sit down on my chair I'm not getting out of it. There is so much I want to work on. Todays card was put together with stuff on my desk. The images were colored with chalk and pencils and are from Inkadinkado. The background is Encaustic wax and the flower I crocheted.

A BIG card for this weeks Mojo

This is a size I don't think to make but you know there is so much more room to work with. I started out with a piece of card stock cut 8 1/2 by 8. But you can go 9 1/2 by 8 and it will still fit into a regular Business size envelope. So for some of those bigger embellishments and die cuts try a BIG card. To make this one I went through my stash and came up with 2 different techniques made with the same colors. These two I use quite often together. I think they work well because they start out similarly. The finishing step is the only difference. The image is from Inkadinka do and I embossed it with Black and colored it in with my Atyou Spica Glitter pens. Chalked around the outside and then took an eraser and removed the chalk outlining the hummingbird. Sprayed to seal the chalk. Cuttlebugged the dark purple piece of card stock for a little pizazz. Backed everything with Pumpkin Pie. The little flower I actually crocheted this week. I've made a huge pile of them using embroidery floss and crochet cotton thread.

Mojo 90

Here's my card for this weeks sketch. Not sure how I feel about it. I started out with the image. It's from a clear set of Inkadinkado. Liked them when I bought them but got home and stamped them and quickly lost interest. So while looking for an image I came across this one and decided to give it a chance. Part is pencil and part is chalk. OK. Moved onto the background and found this piece of navy I webbed. Thought COOL that goes together well. Now I needed a piece to make the diamond behind my image. Man I tried everything I had. Nothing worked. No paper, no card stock, NOTHING!! Decided upon this small bit of a saran wrap scrunch technique. Liked it but didn't love it. Totally gave up on the circle thingy. Plopped a flower from yesterdays coloring up there and there you have it. Thank goodness this card is done! It would've haunted me forever if I hadn't finished it. Although I'm not really sure it's finished but it's put away for now in the waiting to be mailed out pile. I shall send it to someone and let them figure out what it needs. What a time I had making this thing.

So much rain

There has been so much rain the last 2 weeks. About 12 inches so far. I thought I'd show you what our girl goat thinks of all of it.

Yard has soaked it all in and the ponds that have been bone dry for almost 2 years are once again full. So that's a good thing.
Monday has come and gone and I am once again late to post my Monday Mojo Sketch. Have no real excuse to be late. I am still on a unexpected vacation so have plenty of time. I'm done tearing the house apart. Been making cards and trying out techniques just hadn't got motivated to do the sketch. But here it is.



Paper is from SU and the image in the circle is an Inkadinkado inchie that I surrounded with a tiny butterfly. The background behind the circle is an I Brake for Stamps background stamp. The technique is one I will be demoing this Saturday at Scrap & Stamp Art Studio. It is a pigment resist.

In getting ready for my demo I have been trying this technique on different colors of card stock. When I picked up this yellow paper and stamped it I really liked it without doing anything to it. Don't know why I don't do this more often. You should try it. Take white pigment ink and stamp on a piece of card stock either a plain piece or one that has been brayered with a rainbow pad. It's makes a nice background.

Mojo Sketch time again

I really wanted to do this last night but I sat down and did something I haven't done in eons. I knitted. When I was visiting my son and daughter in law I noticed all her dish cloths were hand made. It just so happens I was going to do this a few years ago for myself and had the booklet and yarn for the project so out it came. Have 2 done so far. Going to make a few more and then send them off to her. Hope she will like them. Now for my sketch. I used a new Inkadinkado stamp I had colored with pencils and embellished with white liquid pearl. The paper is a double sided card stock I got in a swap. The colors matched perfectly. Some pretty pink pearls, a SU punched scalloped circle finished it off. Now I need to get busy because the supply of colored images in my basket is dwindling.

Mojo Monday and an update on Charlie Pork Chop

WOW!! This week is getting away from me. So much to do before we leave tomorrow. Vacations need planning. We're never going to get it all done but I was determined to get to my sketch. So last night there was no bed time till I finished it. Here it is.




Thank goodness for my Handy Dandy Basket. I looked for an image the right size and shape and went from there. Now to Charlie. Well I think we are finally Charlie proof. He hasn't escaped again. Hopefully when we get back he will still be there. Being the smart little fellow he is, he could be waiting for us to leave to make his move. We shall see. I will have lots of pictures to show you of my grand babies both human and not so human after Easter. Everyone enjoy the Holiday.

This weeks Mojo Monday Sketch

I made several cards before one finally turned out looking like the sketch. I started out with that center square each time but before I knew it I had put a card together. They just weren't the sketch. My hands had a mind of their own the last 2 evenings. Finally though I succeeded. The background uses Encaustic Wax. The rest were just scraps from my Cuttlebugging. The saying is from I Brake for Stamps.

Another Mojo Sketch and my Basket

Here it is Monday again and time for another sketch. I love this sketch. I can see using it more. You've heard me talk about the basket I work out of. I was taking it to my Stamping groups get together at the end of the month but the lady wanting to see it will not be attending so I thought I would show all of you. It really exists. There are images colored and uncolored, 6x6 papers and lots of scraps of card stock and of course my backgrounds. Every once in a while I add something new. To make this card I looked through the images for something square and went from there. The image is from a swap and the paper I received in a PIF. I Used my square Nestabilities to cut it out and a layer of Choc. brown. Added a raffia bow and a Nestabilities circle for the Hi!. I am really pleased with it. Did I say I love this sketch!!

Mojo Monday Sketch #72

I made this card yesterday but wasn't happy with how it turned out. It has grown on me in the day light so I am showing it. .

Time for another Mojo Monday sketch

Monday came and was almost gone before I realized it was Monday and I hadn't gotten my email with the MOJO sketch. So before I hopped into bed I went to the website and found it. This morning I started the card before I went to work and I am so glad I didn't finish it. I thought about it all day and really like the results. I used this really pretty paper I got at the Stamping Studio. It was already edged in brown. Cut it apart and sprayed a piece with webbing. Added some sticky yarn trim and 2 Nestabilities squares I edged in brown. My image which was first going to be my large square is from I Brake for Stamps. I cut it out and attached it so part was where the bow is in the sketch.

Mojo Monday and a yard full of pigs

Here's the new Mojo Monday sketch challenge and my card. The images are from a swap. I used some sparkly paper I picked up at a scrap book store some where, a little bit of my webbing paper and that dark circle of would you believe a coffee filter. That is a fun technique and the paper is always vibrant. We had a bit of excitement this evening. I looked out the window to see my pasture full of wild pigs. Big ones and lots and lots of little ones. There had to be about 30. Maybe more. They took turns running from the back corner of our property to the pond to get a drink. All the ponds are drying up around here because of lack of rain. We still have a small amount of water so they will probably be back to visit again.

I've got my MOJO back

Last year I took part in several blog sketch challenges. I loved doing them and then I just stopped making time for them. I know I was very tired at the end of the year 08 and had many days of not wanting to do anything. But I have had this wonderful vacation and feel awesome. Maybe you would like to play along too. She is offering lots of prizes for those that take the challenge. Try it out. Here's the sketch:

I had this webbed background paper on my desk and yes I know Christmas is over but I just got these Spellbinders ornaments die and wanted to play a bit with them. I also used the new Labels1 and the oval Nestabilities.

I then took the same background mixed it with another and my Hanna Stamps Florida Moose. Now he's not called Florida Moose but he's on the beach here if you ask me. The little baubles are from The Robins Nest. I got them from www.ucutathome.com.

H2O surprise

Over the week end I found out I would start teaching at a Stamp Store an hour from me. Excitement Excitement. So I went to work coming up with my first class. I started looking through my techniques for 3 that were easy but used different supplies. I came across this one which uses H2Os. It glimmers so much. A really gorgeous background. I took the pictures under a light to help show you the shine. They are both made the same but with one difference. My secret. Not sure which one I like more. I've never really liked the look of an image colored with H2Os but this background is awesome and will be one I use more often. Well I decided not to use this technique for my class. Atleast not this class (**hint hint**). The first card uses a frog from I Brake for Stamps. The second card uses a little sea horse I got at a used stamp sale and has no markings. Techno Stamper Sketch # 27

I have been working on this sketch for 3 days. Remember I limit myself to what I have in a basket. I just couldn't find the right image to divide. Couldn't match any rectangle colors with a background and the image. Finally I think I have found the right combination. And antiquing the squares really helped it out. It was just a little to plain for me so I added the metal leaf. The sentiment is from I Brake for Stamps and the Tree is from SU. Once again we come to those pesky 2 days that interrupt my summer vacation. Atleast I only have to work till 2:30 today. I hope to get my last sketch done when I get home but for right now here is the one I made last night. This Sketch is from
http://cardoftheweek.ning.com/. The sunflower is not mine. It actually belongs to Molly B. who sent it to me in a swap. It once was a tag but I have cut it down to fit the sketch. Loved the sunflower so had to use it.

A Sketch and another square card

It's Monday and it's time for the sketches to come out. I just finished the Mojo Monday #47 sketch from Poeticartistry.blogspot.com. Used some of my Glimmering Waves I just made and a pop up butterfly. She was feeling rounded this week with the sketch. It's a nice change from the normal rectangular shape. The second card is another sample from my previous post. This time though I only used one square behind my image. Added a strip at the bottom the same color as the square. A photo corner for some extra color, pearls and lots of white dots made with my Inkssential pen. I'm beginning to enjoy making all those dots.

New group** New Sketch Challenge

I joined a group this week end called **Card of the Week: All Things Paper Crafting **. I'm still searching through the group. Looks like a great site. They have a sketch challenge also. And I really enjoy them so ................After I finally found where it was posted this afternoon I searched through my basket to see if I could find an image for the card. I came out with this pinecone I had done some time ago with Dreamweavers paste. I chalked it and matched the chalk colors with card stock. It was just a little blah for me so I went back and came out with this Cuttlebugged strip of red. Just what it needed.

Mojo Monday Week 46 sketch challenge

I was determined to get to all the blog sketches today. That was my goal this summer to do them each Monday and somewhere I just have not done it. But no more sitting back. I am doing the sketches. So here we go. My first effort ended up not fitting on my card. Make a note never ever make the circles first. But I like how it turned out. The little birds are from Inkadinkado and the sentiment is SU. The background was sprayed with Moon Glow and webbing.


Now on to the card that followed the sketch.

I chose the circles and laid them out on the card first. Smartened up on that one. Then looked for some words that would fit. Saw the Pucker up from Rubber Stamp Tapestry and right away thought of the lemon from SU. I had gotten this set at a workshop. Now was my chance to use it. Added some Stickles and Gold dots to the ribbon. Picked out this Polished Stone background. Put it all together and WOW!!! IS THIS NOT BRIGHT!! Almost need my sunglasses to look at it.
