Making a Sun burst card

This month SSSD ladies we'll be making a Sun Burst card. You need a card base, a 4 x 5 1/4" layer, 6 1 1/4 x 4" pieces of Designer paper and a 1 1/2 x 5" piece of coordinating paper. 

Take your 6  1 1/4 x 4" pieces of paper and cut them at a diagonal.

Here is what you should end up with.

Sponge all your edges with a dark Brown ink. 

Take a piece of scrap card stock 2 1/4 x 5" and put double sided adheive on the back.

Now arrange your triangles in a fan shape and adhere to the card stock. 

Cut all the paper hanging over the card stock.

Sponge the edges of this piece your 2 1/4 x 5" piece of coordinating paper and your layer piece with the brown ink. Attach the pieces. 

Wrap a piece of ribbon around the front covering up the gap and then attach the layer to your base. 

Now decorate.

V-Fold Card

I have wanted to try this fold for a very long time. The directions I had made it a little harder than I think It had to be. I would look at them and then decide I'd try another day. So after figuring out the basic layout it was sooooooo easy.  Here goes SSSD ladies. Hope you understand my directions.

You are going to start with a pice of cardstock 6 x 8 1/2. Score it in half at 4 1/4". This will make a card 6 x 4 1/4.  See the line on my scoring board.. You will need to do this to yours. Just trace down one of the tracks with afine point  marker.

Fold the card in half. On the flap this to be the front put a small pencil mark at 3" and then at 1/4" & 1/2" from the center mark. Repeat on the other side.

You sre now going to put a small pencil mark 1/4" from the fold on each side. At the bottom you are going to put a small pencil mark 2" up from the bottom on both sides and then 1/4" from that mark on both sides.  Here is a diagram excuse the my unruly lines. I have labeled the marks at the bottom  DCBAEFG. On the left I have lables these marks HIJ and on the right they are labeled KLM. Line up H & D on the line you drew on your scoring board. Score. Next do the same thing I & C. Score. Then J&B and then the fold & A. Now repeat this on the other side -- K & G , L & F, M & E and the Fold and A. The drawn lines represent  your scoring. 

Now fold all your score lines in the same direction. You're going to make mountain and valley folds now. The top score line of each set of 2 is a Mountain Fold. The bottom score line of each set of 2 is a Valley Fold. This is what you should end up with.

Now you need a piece of cardstock 6 x 4 1/4. 

On the back side of your folds add double sided adhesive.  Attach the card stock.

Decorate.

Sept. SSSD Tutorial

Hi SSSD ladies. This month I'm going to show you how to make a Twisted Fold Card for our swap. It makes a great Gift Card Holder. 

Start with a 4 1/4 x 11 piece of card stock and you may want to start out with a practice piece as I did to figure out which way the fold goes. See the dark line on my score board. Take a sharpie marker and do the same thing on your board. It will help you with projects that are scored on the diagonal.

Line a top corner and a bottom corner on the line and score. 

Fold on score line. Take that fold and line it up against the top of the board and score the center at

 5 7/8.

Fold on this score line. You want a pocket on the front and one on the inside. Now that you know the correct direction to fold do your real card base. Keep the first one as your pattern for future cards. 

Take a piece of DP 2 x 5 1/2". Cut it on the diagonal as shown and attached one to the front and one to the inside. 

Now take another piece of DP 4 1/4 x 4 1/2 and cut it on the diagonal as shown..

Unfold card and attach one of the pieces. Trim off the bottom corner. 

See how it looks when refolded. 

Do the same thing for the front.

Now decorate your card.

SSSD Aug. Technique

OK ladies. This month we are water coloring. If you have Distress inks these will work the best when it comes to blending. Take a piece of Water Color paper ( you can not use regular paper, it will fall apart )

On the smooth side of the paper stamp your image with Versa Mark. 

Apply White Embossing Powder and heat.

Now you can do this 2 ways. You can apply tour color to an Acrylic Block.

Or you can add it to your craft mat.

Add your color by smooshing the ink pad onto your surface and spray with water.

Using a water brush start coloring your piece.  Continue until the whole image is colored. 

Now start coloring the outside. Start light.

Add a darker color

And then an even darker color. Go back and using water and more ink blend your colors until you are satisfied.

Now for the hard part....waiting for it to dry so you can make your card.

Coloring on Glitter

Welcome SSSD ladies. This month swap technique is quick and fun. Let's get started. You need double sided adhesive sheets or a wide double sided tape, piece of card stock, Gold Outline Stickers, microfine white glitter and markers. 

Cut your adhesive sheet to the size you want your glittered layer. Remove protective paper from one side of your adhesive sheet. 

Now stick your stickers onto the sticky surface. 

Apply your microfine white glitter all over and then use your fingers to move it around and make sure the whole piece is covered.  Press down on it and work the glitter into the adhesive. Then shake off all the excess glitter. 

Here's what it looks like. Nice and sparkly. Remove the backing and stick it to your card stock. I've used Sticker Paper from Sparkle n Sprinkle so I can skip this step. It's already attached to paper.

Using your Copics color your design. The glitter will not hurt your markers. 

 Excuse that shadow. I have got to figure out what part of me is causing that in all my photos and get rid of it. 

Here's my finished card.

Let's make a fussy cut border - June SSSD technique

OK ladies here we go. Take a 4 1/4 x 5 1/2" piece of card stock and fold in half to make your card base. Decide on your stamps or stamp that you will use. One stamp alone will work fine. I am using 4 different ones. Stamp them on post it notes. 

Cut them out. These will become our masks. Now if you use 1 stamp, stamp it at least 3 times on the post it notes. 

Line them up to decide on your design.

Stamp the first one on your card base. 

Add your mask and stamp the next stamp overlapping the first image. Remember we don't want these to line right up with the edge. We will be cutting the edge out around the stamps.

Add your second stamp and stamp the next image

Repeat with the rest of your masks and images. HINT: store your masks with the stamps for another time you may want to stamp and mask with them. 

Here's my images all lined up along the edge. 

Color them in if you want. 

Open your card and cut along the edge around your images. 

Add a strip of paper to the back inside flap of your card. This will show behind your imaged border.

Finish your card.
