My stamping Studio

I thought today I would show you where I stamp. I have been cleaning and rearranging. Took a desk out of the 3rd bedroom we don't use and got rid of the long table I was using. Took up a lot of room. My studio is where the kitchen table should be. Works for me. on the other wall is my sewing machine and you can see just the corner of my stove. I think I shall get to work now.

Marker Water Color

Had the day off so I finished mowing the yard and then headed in for some relaxation. I have been having fun all afternoon working on things I actually wanted to work on. My June swaps are all ready to go so I tried out a few techniques and colored in images. I've done 2 things I haven't done in a long time. I water colored and I webbed. I went through my basket of backgrounds and found a handful that I would never use. Took them outside. Spread them all over the grass and started spraying. What fun. I had several chickens and a dragonfly very interested in what was happening. I sprayed polished stone, encaustic wax and then odd pieces of things that didn't turn out quite right. I have used them in the cards I am going to show you today. So let's get started. I have never water colored this way before but I have to tell you regular card stock will not work with this technique. You need water color paper which I have 2 tablets of and never use it. Why oh why don't I use it. This was great!!! and so easy. You will need watercolor paper, a water brush and SU or Tom Bow markers. Markers need to be water based. Stamp your image with a permanent black ink. I used archival jet black for my images.



Outline your image with your colors.



Now using your water brush pull the color from the edge into the center. Make sure your brush is wet. This helps to make the color spread.




This is what you will finish up with. You can also outline the image with a very pale blue for a shadow. Here is another one I did. They work up really fast and you can go back and add more color if you want.




Now for my new cards and their back grounds. The tulip has a background of Polished Stone. And the Hydrangea is a water technique of some sort. It was really dull looking until I sprayed it.

Alcohol Ink sample cards

I was able to finish a few cards this evening. The first one is a sample for the technique I showed you earlier today using glossy card stock and the brayer. The stamp is from I Brake for Stamps. I used Archival Black ink to stamp the image onto the background.



These last 2 are samples of backgrounds we will be making later this month at our get together.




The Sunflower collage stamp is from Inkadinkado. The lace punch and butterfly punch are Martha Stewart.

2 more quick and easy Alcohol ink backgrounds

Had the day off today but didn't get much time for play. Too much laundry, yard work, ironing, mending etc, to do but this evening I put together 2 quick backgrounds made using a brayer. You'll need your craft mat, white glossy card stock, acetate, several colors of alcohol ink, a metallic mixative, blending solution and a brayer. For the first one squirt the blending solution around on your craft mat. Now add drops of several colors of the ink. And then drops of the metallic.


Use the brayer to pick up the color and brayer onto your glossy card stock. You now have a background you can stamp on or use it as your card front.





I'm working on some cards and will post them later. The next background uses the acetate. Stamp one side with Stazon or you can use the Archival ink. Heat set it with your heat gun. Turn it over and drop several colors of ink onto the acetate. Spray with your blending solution and brayer lightly to spread the color.




Now turn it over and mount onto card stock and then onto your card.

I've cased another card.

I saw a card like this on Paper Craft Planet. You use all of your border punches to form the card front. I think it makes a very elegant wedding card. Rows 1 & 2 are Martha Stewart borders. Row 3 is EK Success. Rows 4 & 5 are Martha Stewart and the last one is a SU border. The butterflies are Martha Stewart punches.

Another Impressibilities idea

Stamp TV had a few more videos last week. The one technique I haven't been able to make it look right or at least make it look like I think it should. This one though is easy and you could use lots of colors to make your background paper. You start out by laying your Impressibilities on top of your card stock.



Then sponge your ink over the top of it. You need to use a pouncing type motion or you will ruin the sponge.



This is what you will end up with.

Happy Mothers Day

I had a very quiet day. Husband had to work and daughter was with the boyfriend and his mother for the afternoon. They did however cook me a delicious meal for supper. I actually enjoyed the afternoon. Hadn't had a day off in a week so these few hours gave me an opportunity to put some cards together. These were all made using an alcohol ink background. I am still working on what I will be showing you at the end of the month. The first one uses acetate.



I had fun with a couple Martha Stewart punches for this one. I treated myself to a couple of her border punches. I really like this one.



The last card uses a stamp from Flourishes. I popped up the little flowers.
