Alcohol Ink sample cards

I was able to finish a few cards this evening. The first one is a sample for the technique I showed you earlier today using glossy card stock and the brayer. The stamp is from I Brake for Stamps. I used Archival Black ink to stamp the image onto the background.



These last 2 are samples of backgrounds we will be making later this month at our get together.




The Sunflower collage stamp is from Inkadinkado. The lace punch and butterfly punch are Martha Stewart.

2 more quick and easy Alcohol ink backgrounds

Had the day off today but didn't get much time for play. Too much laundry, yard work, ironing, mending etc, to do but this evening I put together 2 quick backgrounds made using a brayer. You'll need your craft mat, white glossy card stock, acetate, several colors of alcohol ink, a metallic mixative, blending solution and a brayer. For the first one squirt the blending solution around on your craft mat. Now add drops of several colors of the ink. And then drops of the metallic.


Use the brayer to pick up the color and brayer onto your glossy card stock. You now have a background you can stamp on or use it as your card front.





I'm working on some cards and will post them later. The next background uses the acetate. Stamp one side with Stazon or you can use the Archival ink. Heat set it with your heat gun. Turn it over and drop several colors of ink onto the acetate. Spray with your blending solution and brayer lightly to spread the color.




Now turn it over and mount onto card stock and then onto your card.

I've cased another card.

I saw a card like this on Paper Craft Planet. You use all of your border punches to form the card front. I think it makes a very elegant wedding card. Rows 1 & 2 are Martha Stewart borders. Row 3 is EK Success. Rows 4 & 5 are Martha Stewart and the last one is a SU border. The butterflies are Martha Stewart punches.

Another Impressibilities idea

Stamp TV had a few more videos last week. The one technique I haven't been able to make it look right or at least make it look like I think it should. This one though is easy and you could use lots of colors to make your background paper. You start out by laying your Impressibilities on top of your card stock.



Then sponge your ink over the top of it. You need to use a pouncing type motion or you will ruin the sponge.



This is what you will end up with.

Happy Mothers Day

I had a very quiet day. Husband had to work and daughter was with the boyfriend and his mother for the afternoon. They did however cook me a delicious meal for supper. I actually enjoyed the afternoon. Hadn't had a day off in a week so these few hours gave me an opportunity to put some cards together. These were all made using an alcohol ink background. I am still working on what I will be showing you at the end of the month. The first one uses acetate.



I had fun with a couple Martha Stewart punches for this one. I treated myself to a couple of her border punches. I really like this one.



The last card uses a stamp from Flourishes. I popped up the little flowers.

Impressibilities

This is for my friend Kren who had asked my opinion of the Spellbinders Impressibilities. I was not impressed. And had heard others say what I was saying. They just didn't make a good impression. Well this week I saw the new ones especially the one with the sea shells and like I really need that one. Then StampTV had a video and now that I have high speed internet I was able to watch the video. I found out my main problem. PAPER!!! You need light weight paper. We're all trying to use the SU or the Georgia Pacific sold at Walmart. These are tooo heavy. So off to Joanns I went yesterday and bought a pack of the paper they sell and today gave it a try. This is what I found. This is your sandwich starting at the bottom. A plate- B plate- rubber mat-Impressibilities-paper-B plate-card stock to shim. I used 4. Although I still am not sure of the embossed side. The folders do a better job in my opinion.



But the debossed side is quite nice. This side could give you a very lacey effect. I really like the white outlines.



So am I going to order the sea shell Impressibilities. You know I am.

We will be doing these 2 techniques at my demo. I worked very hard today researching and sampling. The ink is not where you think it is.
